Meditation can be a great way to heal yourself.

If you are dealing with daily physical symptoms such as body aches, headaches, fatigue, stress, anxiety, insomnia and want more energy, meditation is for you. Even if you don't struggle with these issues, meditation is a great way of gaining more energy and a better grip on life.

So to start, what is meditation? Meditation in simple terms means "awareness". But that word does not do it justice. If you decide to make meditation a part of your life, since you want to use meditation for health purposes, you should be able to reach a level of bliss. But this takes work and training of course. The point is to get you in a frame of mind where you are as free of other thoughts as possible. It goes beyond concentrating with your mind but instead it's a state of mind of deep and blissful "contemplation", where you feel you are the only one in the world. You have clarity and serenity. At this level you are only conscious of your body and your ego, nothing else.

So how can meditation help you heal? Ultimately, why is meditation good? To understand this we really have to understand how our mind is normally, so you can understand where it needs to be. A mind that has physical symptoms such as fatigue and anxiety, (and others we mentioned above) is a mind that is thinking in so many different directions, constantly thinking about family, work, friends, food and so forth. This is where meditation takes over.

The first step in meditation is "Concentration". Think of an object/subject.(ie think about love) Think of something interesting to keep your attention and allow it to be a diversion. This is not easy. You will have to find something that can keep your interest. But when you find that subject/object, and are able to do it, you will be at that level and can move up. The other difficulty is that even when you do find something, other thoughts will pop in to try to ruin your concentration. The key is to not let it and get back on track. Remember, this is about reprogramming your mind. You have to get rid of bad habits. Only one thing can happen, you can take control of your mind or it can dictate you.

The second level if you are able to do step 1 will be the meditating mind. That concentration, which included interruptions, will become steady. Therefore, when you are able to totally concentrate you are in a meditative state. Eventually this become effortless and you move from concentration to meditation very quickly. As you do that the attention paid to the object of your concentration gets deeper and deeper. You will learn real knowledge about it. If you were thinking about love as the example stated, at this stage your mind will fill with thoughts of love.

And finally at the last stage, as I mentioned, "contemplation" will take place. You will be one with the universe, you will only be aware of your physical body and your ego, nothing else. At this stage is where real healing takes place. Try it today and if you need help, there are people to help you out in many spiritual communities.
