Discover how to use your leadership skills to lead others in guided meditation.

Meditation guided is a form of meditating in which some sort of leader walks you through a meditative process. This can be helpful for newcomers to meditation who are looking for suggestions on what might work for them. There are many ways to practice this guided form of meditation. You can attend a guided meditation session, or you can even purchase a CD or DVD to walk you through. If you are looking to become a guide, you will find below several tips that will help ensure that not only are you a strong meditation practitioner, but that you are also a fully confident and capable leader.

One of the most important things to consider is what type of meditation you want to lead the group through. Try to stay with a more simple form so that any skill level will be comfortable. Visualization techniques work rather well for meditation guided meetings. Next you will want to consider the space. It should be comfortable and accommodating. If you have an appropriate space in your home and the group feels comfortable meeting there, by all means go with that. Otherwise, you might want to check in with a local gym or yoga studio.

Before beginning each session, let everyone get to know each other for a few minutes. This allows the new arrivals to feel welcome and for the returning participants to form friendships within the group. After everyone feels comfortable you can begin the meditation guided session. It is often best to begin in a seated position. Standing up the whole time might become uncomfortable, and lying down might grow to be all too comfortable.

When giving direction to the group, be sure to speak in a clear and calm voice. Talking too loudly or whispering might jar your group mates out of their meditative trance. Plan each sentence before speaking so that your words flow effortlessly and smoothly. When giving directions, try not to dictate what to feel or think, but rather provide general guidance. Go through the meditation routine as you would ideally do it. It is also important to pause when appropriate. As each person you guide experiences the session differently, it might require more work for some to move from step to step. Move on when your instincts tell you the time is right.

At the end of the session, be sure to bring everyone out of their trances slowly, so as not to startle them. A smoother transition into a more alert mental state is much easier on the brain. Following these tips will help not only yourself, but also the people you lead to become more meditation guided.
