Ever wonder if you can take steps to dream what you want to decrease the occurrence of nightmares, feel good upon waking up, etc? The answer: 'Yes you can'. There are dream control techniques or lucid dreaming tips you can apply and some of them are shared here.

To dream what you want, you must be able to control your subconscious mind, or, know that you are dreaming and be able to control what happens during that time. There are several dream control techniques, also referred to as lucid dreaming tips, that you can utilize e.g. try to remember your dreams more easily, believe that you can be in control, and so on. Here are some of those techniques:

Technique A: Visualize

Frequent visualization can help you be in control of most of the dreams you'll have. This technique requires you to take a few minutes a day, stay in a quiet or distraction free room, and then, close your eyes and imagine or picture the things you want to happen e.g. flying in Never Never Land with Peter Pan, getting married with the one you love, and so on. Doing visualizations more often will help you dream what you want.

Technique B: Certain sleeping patterns

One of the dream control techniques or lucid dreaming tips you should try is to look at your sleeping habits and make some changes. You see, there are some patterns or habits that will aid you to remember your dreams with less difficulty and be able to start to lucid dream eventually. Taking a nap e.g. a few hours of sleep after waking up, for example, if you woke up at 8 am, try napping at 8:20 am, and you'll notice having the continuation of what you've dreamt before waking up. Sleeping for an hour and waking up e.g. use an alarm clock, will also enable you to dream what you want as studies show that dreams usually have a 60 minute cycle, so immediately waking up after that cycle can help in dream recall and lucid-dreaming as well.

Technique C: Reality Checking

Doing the so called reality check every now and then is also included in lucid dreaming tips. For instance, you can try to look in a mirror and if you see yourself looking blurred or different, then that can mean that you are in a dream. Flipping on the light switch in your room and then seeing a different colored light e.g. red instead of white, is also a reality check that will clue you in whether you're dreaming or not. By performing these reality checks, you'll eventually learn to make use of your waking mind to control the sub conscious mind, enabling you of course to control your dreams successfully.

These are some of the most effective dream control techniques that will help turn you into a 'lucid dreamer'. Remember that being able to dream lucidly can take away your worries of having nightmares, doing something in your dream that you don't like e.g. eating poop, and so forth, thus, having the skill to dream what you want can be considered beneficial or worth doing.
